William Penn was a remarkable figure who gave Pennsylvania its name. He greatly contributed to two fundamental rights in his namesake colony: self-governance and religious freedom. He also led a life filled with tragedies and challenges: Penn converted at age 18, was arrested and sent to prison four times, married twice and fathered sixteen children. Losing Pennsylvania twice, he tried to sell it back to the crown in his later years. Come to learn more about his fascinating life!
