What are the reasons for U.S. intervention in Venezuela? How long is it likely to last? In this session, Prof. D'Elia will consider the domestic and international political context of the United States' recent intervention in Venezuela. He will also give perspectives on the likelihood of success of its declared goals.
Professor Vasquez-D'Elia has a degree in International Studies from ORT University of Uruguay, and a doctorate in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh. He is currently a professor and researcher at the Pitt Center for Latin American Studies. He has also taught at Penn State University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Washington & Jefferson College. He specializes in the comparative political economy of social policy reform, democratization, and problems of democratic governance.
