Penn Township resident Leslie Savisky is a freelance writer for Pittsburgh Parent magazine and the Tribune-Review, specifically the Monroeville Times Express. She is the author of the self-published novels: Other People’s Words, Almost Too Late and These Broken Pieces.

Savisky will be conducting a talk on self-publishing from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on October 15 at Monroeville Public Library in Johnna's Room. Anyone who is interested in Savisky’s books, learning the ins and outs of self-publishing or has their own story to tell would be interested in this event.

 Discussion Topics Include:

  • How Savisky took traumatic events from her childhood and used creativity to turn it into her debut novel
  • Savisky’s personal writing and self-publishing journey
  • An overview on getting set up with Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing, IngramSpark and other avenues
  • Helpful websites and apps to help you in your creative journey
  • How to market your books and gain exposure as an independent author
  • Pros and cons of self-publishing

This free event will be an informative, roundtable discussion, not a formal lecture.

Savisky will have copies of her books for purchase via cash, check, Venmo or PayPal.
